SHEER ADVENTURE WITH COMPLETE ADRENALINE RUSH- MT LONGONOT HIKING TRIP

SHEER ADVENTURE WITH COMPLETE ADRENALINE RUSH- MT LONGONOT HIKING TRIP
The mountain of many ridges, as it is known among the local Maasai language is a must go to getaway in the serene location near Lake Naivasha. Scaling the heights of Mount Longonot is a fun filled activity to do over the weekend with your friends or families. All that adrenaline rush I must say is healthy for all who dare hike its dusty path to the crater top.
Just before we started the hike.....

On this great day we left Nairobi city early the morning (7:00am) for Ol loong’ot to beat the traffic to Naivasha as throngs of people drive to Naivasha for their weekend gateway and to hike when it’s a little cool. If you are planning to hike Mt Longonot too it’s advisable to leave Nairobi early to be in Longonot in good time. En route the view of the Rift valley at the viewpoints is simply spectacular. Stop over take lots of pictures for memorabilia as well as souvenirs to remind of the indelibly embedded memories. Perhaps one day there may be skydiving to have a bird’s eye view of the Rift valley.
And every long journey starts with a single step.....

Stopovers in phase one...it was challenging but we kept on........

On reaching the mountain of sheer adventure, brace yourself for different workout routines. Your strength and resilience is paramount and put to the test as one attempts the different sections of the mountain. The first as usual is easy peasy, a gentle ascent. Take your time to enjoy the surrounding breathe in and out.

We had our lunch here before we went round the rim....

In phase two dusts is the order of the day however that is part of the thrill. Have that one goal of reaching the rim and imagine what it will be like ‘up there’. There’s a break point where you can take your snacks or food. The remaining two sections were quite gruesome but manageable. Hiking with friends is important motivating each other to go on.
Memories are made of this...

Phase 2 was no joke but we had to accomplish....

Finally, behold we reached the crater rim. I must say I have never seen anything more spectacular in my life, just breath-taking. Down below the crater was a thick green forested bottom. This is very unusual considering all the dust and shrubs one interacts with as they ascend the mountain. Perhaps one day a cable car to the crater may let us explore what lies beneath.
Going round the crater is what crowns it all. Walking along the narrow path of the crater gives the complete thrill and one gets to know the real meaning of adrenaline rush. Enjoy the scenic view of Lake Naivasha at a distance and the never ending Rift Valley. Descent is easy if on hiking you went counter clockwise.
Going round the rim offers a wide range of beautiful sceneries..you should be here....
