The Beautiful Wood Hoopoes

Wood hoopoes.
Many birders call them crazy birds.
Do you know why???
They make so much noise. This noise is heard when 2 neighboring groups meet.
The confrontations arise when the intruders are checking if the area is occupied and if there is breeding opportunity they can take.
The cackling and squawking of these birds may go longer when the intruders are looking for "rights” to feed in the neighboring territory....this explains why you mostly see these birds cackling in the same area.
Wood hoopoes are an endemic African bird family...And so birders try as much to conserve and sensitize to others importance of conserving.

They nest in large cavities (not holes) .when intruders such as Genets come around they turn their tails to the entrance and release a terrible smell.
This is an adaptation that keeps its most of its predators away.
